Oldenburg-based photo service provider CEWE is ranked eleventh place out of around 2,000 companies in Germany that were invited to participate in a large-scale study by the market research company Statista and the business magazine Capital. The analysis distinguishes those companies in Germany that have reduced the intensity of their greenhouse gas emissions the most over the past five years, while at the same time developing strongly in sales and production. From the study, CEWE emerges as one of the leading companies that live up to their responsibility with regard to environmental awareness, climate protection, and future orientation, the company said. In addition to the directly attributable emissions of greenhouse gases, this year’s study also used other methods that take into account further areas of the value chain. In addition, the companies had to prove that they were pursuing these goals in the long term, transparently, actively, and as comprehensively as possible.
“We are very pleased about the award and, above all, that we at CEWE have already been able to significantly reduce our CO2 footprint and thus have almost completely achieved our emission targets at an early stage,” said Thomas Mehls, CEWE Board Member, on the occasion of CEWE’s naming a “Climate-conscious company in Germany 2022”.
The long-term goal is to reduce the absolute annual Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50 percent from 2015 to 2025 from 13,401 tons per year to less than 6,700 t/a. This goal was already achieved 98 percent (6,778 t/a) in 2020. This value should continue to be steadily reduced.
